Castaway Burbank
About this place
Castaway has been part of Burbank's skyline for decades. It originally opened in March 1962 as the second themed restaurant of Specialty Restaurants Corporation, a South Seas–style spot on the Burbank hillside. Over the years it became a meeting place for local companies, including NBC, Lockheed and the Walt Disney Company, and a venue for weddings and prom parties.
A fire destroyed the original restaurant in 1993, and it was rebuilt a year later. In 2017, a ten-million-dollar renovation refreshed the banquet rooms, the outdoor patio and the catering kitchen.
A Steak-Forward Kitchen
Today's menu is led by Chef Perry Pollaci and centers on prime steaks and fresh seafood, with a custom dry-aging room behind the cuts. The butchers it sources from include Cape Grim, Creekstone Farms and Mishima Wagyu. Around the steaks you will find a raw bar, vegetable-focused sides and build-it-yourself charcuterie boards.
Handcrafted cocktails and a weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas round out the program, and you can dine inside or on the expansive outdoor patio.
Hours
Castaway is open 11 AM to 10 PM Monday through Wednesday, 11 AM to 11 PM Thursday through Saturday and 11 AM to 9 PM on Sunday. The hillside setting makes sunset a popular time to book, so reserve ahead on weekends.
